Sex > Violence in Video Games

by on Apr.10, 2010, under Games, Sex

MSNBC put together a thorough and interesting article on sex in video games, talking about Mass Effect 2 & Dragon Age : Origins. It spoke about how the sex isn’t about two people coexisting and then knocking boots, but about how you build a genuine connection with another character through getting to know their life. It shows that you have the potential to find your mate through caring, not just coexisting. It may even be a lesson in social etiquette and understanding about how things are more likely to function in the real world…Despite the interplanetary game play dynamics.

Think about what happens in video games and what is socially acceptable (if you haven’t already a bajillion times). Why is it alright to murder people left right and centre, but the second you show some compassion or love, people want to outlaw it immediately. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH SEX. We need a more loving and caring society, not ones filled with kids who are entirely desensitized to murder! We need people to foster connections over hatred. Just love thy neighbour. LOVE THEM damn it!

And of course, the reddit commentary.
