A Big Blog Post with a lot to hear, see, and read!

by on Oct.29, 2010, under Humour, Life, Music, News, Science

I have been lazy and haven’t been updating much, so here’s a whole lot of stuff all at once! It’s a party, so enjoy yourself!

Here is how a few European nations view one another. If you’ve been to any of these countries, you ought to be at least mildly amused with the ridiculous maps.

And an inspiring TED talk by economist Tim Jackson about our need for novelty and our absurdist overspending society.

The destruction of our ecosystem has a cost of between 2-5 trillion dollars per year.

Using the power of poop could help us become greener, who knew?

A nice and sombre ambient piece filmed in what I was told is a leaking farmhouse.

The importance of language and how dumbification is on the rise!

Stephen Fry Kinetic Typography – Language from Matthew Rogers on Vimeo.

David McCandless performs on TED as well, talking about the beauty of data visualization showcasing the power of the data on the Internet to find out some very interesting things about human nature.

A Gazette piece about how we are so far removed from the moment that it destroys the moment itself for everyone else. The idea of the gadgets in our hands taking away and insulting the art itself. In simpler terms, camera phones at concerts being used to replace memories.

And a handy chrome extension for those not wanting all those external websites to communicate with facebook and tell the world what you’re doing. And if you’re wondering why I’m linking to a Chrome extension and not that of a Firefox or dare I say, Internet Explorer, it’s because Chrome nowadays is at the forefront of browser technology and I stand by it.

Here are the new photos from Poland (Torun)

And if we actually know each other, you’re more than welcome to add me to facebook you know. Find me and tell me who you are (if you don’t think I’d recognize you of course!).

I’m in Lille today, heading to Paris tonight. The trip is winding down, 18 days until my flight back to Canada! Then 8 more until I’m home in Montreal.
